Our MissionFinancial Aid Office

It is the mission of the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships to provide you with the optimal financial assistance while attending The Citadel. It is important that you participate in this process throughout each year of enrollment at our school.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Please complete tComplete Your FAFSA Herehe 2015-2016 FAFSA for this academic year (fall/spring/summer) at using our federal school code 003423. You must complete and submit an annual FAFSA after January 1st to be considered for federal and state financial aid programs and for the majority of scholarships in our Citadel program. The 2016-17 FAFSA application will be available on January 1, 2016: the FAFSA priority processing deadline is February 28. Once our office has your FAFSA on file, that school year's financial aid account is opened.

Incoming freshmen in the Corps of Cadets: Our office will send email communications beginning in late March, using the email address provided on the FAFSA. Please immediately complete requests for additional paperwork; delays on your part can hinder your ability to receive aid from programs with limited funding such as grants and scholarships.

Upperclassmen in the Corps of Cadets: It is important to file the FAFSA each year to qualify for federal and state financial aid and to be considered for a large number of our Citadel scholarships. To understand more, please read Common FAFSA Myths. You must also complete a brief, electronic application each year to be considered for the majority of scholarships in The Citadel Scholarship Program.

Evening Undergraduate Students and Graduate Students must be in a degree program and enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduates and 4.5 credit hours for graduate students) to be eligible for federal financial aid. Graduate Certificate Students are not eligible for federal financial aid.

The 2017-2018 Upperclass Cadet Scholarship Application will open mid-March 2017.
