Executive Director’s Message

The addition of the Junior Ethics Enrichment Experience (JEEE) and the Senior Leadership Integration Seminar (SLIS) completes the goal of developing and delivering to the Corps of Cadets the Four-Year Leader Development Model. JEEE and SLIS programs are described in detail in the annual report.

Leadership Day in October continues to expand and improve each year. We received tremendous positive publicity this year for the civic engagement activities of the Corps. More importantly, the feedback received from the Corps in surveys clearly demonstrates this experience is making a very positive impact on their leadership development.

The Annual Principled Leadership Symposium continues to provide an excellent venue for expanding The Citadel’s regional and national reputation for leader development in higher education. Over 100 delegates from colleges and universities in Vermont, Texas and throughout the South attended the 2013 Symposium. This diverse and engaged pool of delegates, coupled with an impressive number of nationally recognized speakers provide the Corps with an excellent opportunity to engage in contemporary leadership dialogue.

Throughout the year I have had the opportunity to travel to and meet with numerous alumni clubs along the East Coast from Washington, DC to Florida to educate people about the important programs at the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics. I have also met with class reunion groups, the Gold Corps, TCF Volunteers, Rotary Clubs, the Chamber of Commerce, and local Charleston corporations providing us the opportunity to tell our leader development story and gain recognition and support for our programs and our cadets.
